Dating Tips for the Conscious-Minded: Living in a World of Woke

We’re living in a quickly evolving world of spiritual awareness which is a wonderful thing! However it can leave some things to be desired in certain areas of life, such as dating. As someone who has been navigating the dating world since a divorce (yes I was married once many moons ago!), trying to do so in a way that honors a lifestyle of mindfulness and path of spirituality has been quite an adventure. Here are some dating tips I’ve learned along the way; hopefully they’ll help smooth the path of love for others!

First things first: We are the common denominator. Not to get all math-like here, but each of us are the common factor in a relationship and this includes the relationship with ourselves. So yes it might be cliche and yes, we might be tired of hearing it but it’s true. It really helps to get right with yourself before opening the gates to all the possibilities out there. When you are living in a good space of who you are, what you’re about and what you want for yourself, it really makes things SO much easier when the time comes for a new love prospect because it will show you who’s on your level…and who’s not!

Once you get good with yourself, the next step is deciding what you want. Not a laundry list of everything you’re looking for in a person, more like a few deal-breakers aka “absolutely not” and a few things that are really important to you or must-haves. These guidelines are important because they help you keep your standards when you’re swimming around in the dating pool. They also help you to see the person for who they really are, not just a presentation that they’re putting forth. Think of guidelines like healthy boundaries; you don’t want to compromise what you value so that you can keep your vibration high and attract the kind of person you really desire!

Now that you’ve landed a date, it’s time to relax and have some fun! Create a little ritual that you do before you go out and meet someone new. I like to leave myself an hour to get ready; put on some music and take my time doing my makeup, hair and trying on outfits while dancing around the house. The purpose of this is to have fun with yourself before you even leave the house; it not only puts you in a good mood but it adds a glowing energy around you as well! You can even ask your favorite deity to step out with you on the date for a little added empowerment.

When you meet this new person, use all of your senses. This is a great time to let your intuition loose and see what you can pick up! It can also help you with asking questions and finding out what you need to know in regards to what you’re looking for in a partner. If you find that you’re digging this person, try and guess their astrological sign! It’s a great way to get some insight into their personality. If I really enjoy the person’s company, I’ll dig a little deeper to get more insight on a person’s moon (where the emotions live) and rising sign (how they present to the world), as well as what signs their Venus (how they love) and Mars (how they take action) are placed in. It can be really helpful to see what’s going on “behind the scenes,” sometimes that can save you a lot of time and energy moving forward!

The conscious dating process has taught me what I want vs what I don’t want. I’ve also seen how much intuition can play a part in assisting with seeing red flags that might otherwise be missed during a hot encounter and I’ve learned not to compromise my beliefs or any part of who I am to try and fit the expectations of another. This process has shown me time and time again that this journey is not just about being open to love or finding a love partner, it’s also about having fun and embracing the magic of who you are!
