Oranges, reds, yellows and browns…these are the signature colors of October and they beckon to us at the core; our root, sacral and solar plexus chakras. Our growing desire to root down and go within as the temperatures grow crisp and the winds change directions. We turn to warming things, to sweet things, to nourishing things as we prepare to ready ourselves for the knowing darkness that grows as the light continues to wane. We’ve harvested and celebrated but now the time comes for reflection…and these are the goddesses who will accompany us during the reckoning!
Hecate… I am the goddess of the crossroads and of transformation. You can feel me most in these darker months, as the earth herself turns inward to rest and dream of a new season. Walking beside you as you make your decisions and choices, my cool knowing brushes against your skin as it brings the chill of understanding. Fear not my presence but feel calm when the time slows, your breathing deepens and all you see are fallen leaves and shades of white and grey, ice and snow. This is a healing time, when the old falls away and we nurture the tender skin underneath so that it can face a greater tomorrow, brave & strong!
Astarte… All is fair in love and war and I epitomize both of these energies! What or who are you most passionate about? Is it you? If not, why not? I’ve come through the energy of October to bring you to action, to follow your passions and to stand up for what you desire the most. We must champion ourselves, otherwise who will? Honor your sexuality, your sensuality, for it is a most potent tool (or weapon if you must…and sometimes it is!). We are beautiful, we are fierce, we are loving and we will accept no less than what is deserved – that which we lay claim to!
These powerful divine feminine energies will be accompanying us during this beautiful season of rooting inward. Here are some ways you can tap into their energy…
Hecate… Walking through the forest in the early morning or the early evening, when things come alive whilst your senses are doing the same. Making art from fallen leaves and things in nature, so that they can become more than the sum of their parts and yet transitory at the same time.
Astarte… Taking a new class that challenges you in a way that takes your breath away, exploring new colors and textures for your beauty rituals, volunteering or donating to a great cause that involves the preservation of nature, children or assists mothers in some way. Choosing a day to wear your best finery, just because you can!
