Today from the Cat’s Eye…

BS ASKS – Is there a connection between Autism and forms of witchcraft? I see in many cultures the autistic are considered shamans or medicine workers, could this be just coincidence or is there a connection?

REPLY – I think they share some traits. That does not mean all autistics are witches or shamans by fact of birth. No more than anyone else. It is their common traits that make them shamans, witches, or medicine workers. Some of those traits are the ability to think conceptually rather than linear, meaning thinking out of the box. They have the ability to be open to sensory faculties most linear thinkers do not. I am no expert in this area, but that is what I think they have in common that makes them what they are.

CK ASKS –  I’m new to crystals; What are the best crystals for beginners?

REPLY – The main standard is clear quartz crystal. That is the go-to crystal because it can channel most any energy because of its purity and clarity. Then there is rose quartz for love and healing, obsidian for grounding, and amethyst for calming, healing, and transforming emotions. I think those are the top four. The book, The Crystal Bible is the best one to start with as you learn.

MT ASKS – What are shadow people?

REPLY – That depends on who you ask. I think each person has their own definition of them and most certainly their own experiences and biases of them. In general, people fear them because they are very unsettling to see. Most often a person opens their eyes and sees this dark shadow of a person sometimes with red eyes just standing there saying nothing. It is creepy. I can only tell you my own experience and what I believe them to be. According to a shadow person I spoke to in a working they are the original people that, Manannan brought out of the chaos with him, and they are his watchers, much like Odin’s crows. Others will completely disagree with that based on their encounters with them. I encourage you to keep an open mind and create an opinion of shadow people based on your own experiences.

JJ ASKS – I always read your post with so much interest, but I’ve never learned how to practice witchcraft. Now I’m starting a new chapter in my life and I want to start practicing but I don’t know where to start, any suggestions?

REPLY – Well there are several books I start my students with, The Four Agreements, Real Magic and Real Energy, and Cunningham’s Wicca for the solitary or Cunningham’s Magical Household. Those are for a very fresh beginner and they give a broad base for what witchcraft is. However, in my tradition, to begin your practice you go outside and get connected to nature. Get to know each thing in nature around you and connect to its energy, then come back and hit the books, of which there are many. Then figure out through reading many books what you are drawn to and resonate with and follow that as you practice.

TB ASKS – Can anyone tell me what it is called when I say things that are quite abstract then happen moments later? It is almost like a pre-warning of usually pleasant or funny things. I have flabbergasted my family on many occasions with it and it has no rhythm or reason. The “coincidence” is too bizarre to be merely that. I’ve never asked about it and I’m a bit embarrassed if I’m honest because you’d have to live it to believe it.

REPLY – It is called precognition, and I do believe it, as I live with it too. There are varying forms of precognition, all of which have been written about and studied that are available to research and learn from. I recommend starting with The Premonition Code by Theresa Cheung

AT Asks – My partner and I keep having dreams about aggressive snakes… I’d like the communities thoughts on it. I can always Google but I figured this might be a better source. Details below. Tuesday night (this week) My partner and I both have a snake dream. I dream about a big aggressive snake chasing me through a house. I wake up right before I die. Or I think I was going to die. He dreams about a regular size aggressive rattlesnake that he captures and gets rid of. Thursday night only I have a dream. About multiple regular snakes chasing me. I can’t remember the details. Friday night my partner has a dream about a big rattlesnake, which like the first, he captures and gets rid of. This is becoming a little much as far as coincidences go so, I wanted to know what this could mean?

REPLY – In my tradition the main thing about dreams is what does it mean to you? What does it make you think and feel? Dreams are about what the symbols mean to you because they are seeing the symbols of your mind in your dreams. However, there is some agreed-upon symbolism when it comes to interpreting dreams. In your shared dreams, it seems like he is always in control and you are at risk. This might be a reflection of your relationship or being in a risky living environment, like living in a bad area or something. But only you know for sure. When I do not know what a dream means I write it down in my journal and write about what it made me think and feel, and or meditate on them for further clarity.

I look forward to seeing your questions for next week’s column, so be sure to drop us an email if you want to see your question answered, and many blessings to all!
