Years ago I posted an article about a good friend of mine, Adriaan. Although we haven’t seen each other in a few years, I always have an open invitation for him to come and visit me in the USA. We met while I was living in Berlin and I picked him out of a crowded tattoo convention because he felt like someone I need to know. Read the first article here.
Although Adriaan has rebranded his professional identity to Magic Dimensions, he is still very much the same tattoo artist…just evolved.
I also have had quiet moments with him…where I see a Jaguar staring back at me.

One of the things that I have learned about Adriaan is that he was deeply involved with the spiritual world. This wasn’t apparent at our first meeting but use magickal people tend to fine one another.
He is doing what most of us hand-on, creative and magickal types are trying to do.
Blend the two worlds together.
I grew up with in Southern California, Adriaan was a deep connection that I found far away in the most unlikely places of Berlin, Germany.
Over the years I have watched Adriaan on both his spiritual journey and professional journey. Every tattoo I have ever gotten from him, I gave him some freedom as an artist… which I believe is inherent energetically for one to move me toward who they are supposed to be. For me, that involved trust and his tattoos on me still stand out as quite powerful works of art. One sleeve he did on my right arm in particular won the Best of in Neo-Traditional at the Berlin Tattoo convention (2011).
“I’ve been creating art & tattooing for more than a decade but it feels as if I have two different careers, the first one I concentrated on creating art that reflected the world itself; all the different range of places, situations, people, what connects us with others & the world itself. It was as if the first cards or the major arcana of tarot were channeling through my art. In this first era, I travelled to as many conventions as I could to get inspired, learning and connecting with other artists.
This made me go out into the world and being recognized by many others in different places.
I travelled to most of the big tattoo conventions in Europe.

“The second part of my career was different. I was always a mágickal artist, I was always inspired & curious of artists who went beyond the norm and experimented with different techniques, different ideas and most important: they worked with mágick. The first part of my career I worked with magick too to show and express my art, but in this second part I started using this magick to raise my consciousness, inspire others and expand the consciousness of the world.
It started with a very intense time of my life that triggered an spiritual awakening, before it I didn’t know about the inner worlds, after it a new era of discovering arrived: the inner discovery of the self.
I started to create art that was coming from within, the more I explored my consciousness, my body, my emotions and thoughts, the more I learned about creating art to heal & inspire. I started channeling this healing arts and at the same time, connecting my art to my life. I travelled the world to share this art with guest spots that filled me with amazing experiences, meeting new magickal & spiritual people and realizing my own path of self discovery.
Now looking back I realize how important was this two parts of my art career,
One outwards and one inwards, now they seem to merge together…” – Adriaan
All that said, Adriaan is Magic.
He is creating his life from the darkness and transforming it into his art. Just like the Queen of Wands, she is the Frida Khalo of the tarot deck. She transforms herself through her pain, her healing, and creativity to help change the world.
“As I experienced in my personal life, experiencing both dualities of life creates a balance and merging of both. This also reflects in my art mixing bright palettes or colors and mute tones, mixing esoteric magickal symbols with divine and sacred shapes. The mix of darkness & light, of outwards & inwards, of esoteric and divine, of earth & consciousness, of female & male, has come to a crucial part of my art where everything can merge and coexist in itself as one…” – Adriaan

“All that fire, all that pain.
Perhaps the visit from my ex through this thinning veil was more about me than them not being able to move on? I had to do some serious inventory here and allow the crystals and trance-like state to bring up these feelings to even expose them. I needed help getting rid of them because my growth as a partner will depend on it.
Once I had identified this pain, I noticed it sitting on my heart, like a scar. It felt foreign and not meant to be there. I asked Santa Muerte to help me, in which she confirmed simply as pain. I asked her to take it from me and she willingly did.
I then energetically removed my old skin, and handed it off to her to throw onto the pile to burn.
