Today in Cat’s Eye…

SD asks-“So this past week or two, I’ve felt compelled to get a little more in touch with witchcraft. Let me start off by saying I’m naturally an empath so I can feel people’s emotions and sometimes I get a color from them too. I feel I’ve been struck by intuition twice. First, I told a friend things about their life for two hours that I had no prior knowledge about, but somehow I knew. Then today, I had the urge to ask my boyfriend for a letter because for some reason I felt the need to see his handwriting. He looked at me confused and told me he was planning on sending me something in the mail, then asked how I knew. Wtf is going on?”

REPLY- SD, what you are experiencing is Claircognizance. It is a very real psychic skill that has been researched and can be studied. My grandmother called it the knowing. Intuition is something very different.

SD, “Do you think those are really 2 distinctly different things? I ask because I consider them to be the same thing, just a different way of wording it.”

REPLY- They are two very different things. Intuition are nudges you get to follow with an action or words that feel like an impulse. The knowing, claircognizance is knowing things out of thin air and you know without a doubt it is true without having any reasonable reason for knowing it, but you feel it is true with your every fiber. There have been many articles, and books written about intuition and Claircognizance over many years. This means it can be studied and not have to remain something that just happens to you mysteriously. I found labeling the individual skills to be of great help in not only knowing my skills but managing them. Perhaps you will too.

JB Asks, “Earlier this year I lost one of my dearest friends, although I just found out she had passed a few weeks ago. Long story there as to why I just found out… irrelevant to this story today. Anyway, last night I dreamt of her and when I woke up, I felt bereft and feeling the loss again quite acutely. I want the dream to be a message but I don’t think it was. Now I’ve had other dreams of her that were so real, so vivid… I feel like those were times when she came to me. So, my question is… how do you know “for sure” when your dreams of loved ones are them coming to say hello and when are the dreams just your mind trying to process grief? I know there may not be a completely solid answer to this, but what do you think?

REPLY- The bottom-line truth about dreams is this, dreams are about what they meant and felt like to you. This is why they fall under the category of unverified personal gnosis. Gnosis means knowledge. Unverified because no one else can truly define it for you as they did not experience it or see it, they can only share their experiences and ideas.

You also answer your own question, let me draw that out for you. Where you say “I felt bereft and feeling the loss again quite acutely.” That is a sure sign it was grief. Where you say, I feel like those were times when she came to me. That is most likely very true and is the best way for you to tell the difference. Many of the things that occur in witchcraft, magic, and psychism are intangible. The best way I have found to keep them from being vague concepts I experienced once is to journal about them. This helped me to see the consistencies in the events. This may work for you too.

RS asks– I have been told to cast a protection over and over, will protection, prevent communication and events from happening?

REPLY- I have been a psychic for over 50 yrs., and there is no one protection that will cover it all, spontaneous events will still happen. As for too much protection preventing communication, well spirits only come to those who are open to them, rather you are aware you are open or not they know.

If in your mind nothing can get through your protection, that is shutting down your gift, not protection. Protection for, not from, psychic gifts, however, is possible and comes from being well-grounded as a psychic. As such you need to be ready for any event spontaneous or planned. Protection comes with the ability to cast protection in the moment while an event is happening, rather you are asleep or not. You accomplish this by first being lucid and aware of what is going on. Second, any protection or shield you use in the everyday world will also work in visions, dreams, astral travels, and trances. So, feel free to use them in your psychic experiences.

KN Asks: I hear so much about the law of attraction and how we have to manage our every thought because thoughts are things that become real. How does one manage to do this? Did my being scared of men make those bad things happen to me? Did I create that?

REPLY- Yes, thoughts are things. They have energy that can attract. This is why they are used in magic. Yes, it is important to take care of our darker thoughts and issues and do our shadow work. That said it in no way implies that all our thoughts and issues must be clean or pure or magical at all times. The law of attraction is not “Think good thoughts and only good things will happen.” Our personal feelings are separate from the real Law of Attraction and how it works in our magic and manifesting.

The consequences for our choices and actions are also separate from the law of attraction. Consequences are a different universal law, The Law of Equal and Opposite Reaction.

The Law of Attraction is not, nor ever will be, things we bring on ourselves because we needed the lesson. To say that is victim blaming and toxic positivity of things that were not in the realm of the victim’s control. What the law of attraction is, are atoms of like things resonating and attracting as we tune in to them and draw the material item or outcome to us.

KF Asks- For a while now I have been manifesting a working. And I only seem to get half of what. I have been working for. Like I am being teased with it. But, still can’t get fully grasp it. No matter what I seem to do. How does one get beyond this? At a total loss. Ty.

REPLY- Manifesting is interesting to be sure. I find if I get too specific, I miss out on what the universe has in store for me, that is yet unknown to me. I have sometimes wondered, this? This is what I am to have? I think that is because our wants are very different than what we really need. The universe sees our real needs and provides, even when we do not see it. As for getting half of what you manifest, good work! You are progressing in the skill. I find keeping a loose idea of what I “want” and being open to what the universe provides to work pretty well. Keep up the good work.

Cat was raised in a magical system by her mother and grandmother and was initiated by them into the family tradition at age 13. Over the years her grandmother taught her the ways of a Hedgewitch, Wortcunning, and “The Knowing” which is a mix of clairsentience, personal gnosis, and psychic ability. From working in the garden with her grandmother Cat became passionate about herbal medicine. Her insights about this are often discussed in her Facebook group Herbal Alchemy. Cat’s mother being less traditional, was a progressive-minded Christian Mystic that gave Cat her interfaith morals and taught her to be an avid reader. Cat’s literary education in the craft began at age 10 with authors such as Edgar Cayce, Marion Zimmerman Bradley, Lobsang Rampa, Gavin, and Yvonne Frost, The Golden Bough, and many more which she continues to this day. By the age of 18, Cat was adept in clairvoyance, UPG, dream work, astral travel, mediumship, and empathic skills. She went on to use those skills in her work as a Dual Diagnosis counselor when inspired by Judith Orloff’s book Second Sight. During her 15 years of counseling, Cat worked in such places as the Salvation Army ARC, The city detox, methadone clinics, and The Native Nations in Portland Oregon. She stepped into the public arena of Paganism at age 50 through Rowan Tree Pagan Ministries, began teaching and became an Ordained Pagan Minister and High Priestess. Cat founded the initiatory coven and school, by the name The Coven of the rising Phoenix in 2016. She is a published author, Psychic Skills for Magic and Witchcraft, through Llewellyn, and writes for The Green Egg Magazine.
