Today in The Cat’s Eye…

LT Asks – I am asking for your advice. I am going to cleanse a house from a ghost with sage, incense, and holy water. This is a very familiar procedure for me. This energy is also located in the garden, staying on the terrace, and hiding in a nearby bush when we are there. I intend to cleanse the garden and especially the terrace, too. Most people do it with pendulums, I am not familiar with this. Thought of planting a black elder near the terrace but I’ve heard objections against planting elderberry as it seems it attracts ghosts instead of protecting against them. I tried to do some research but found contradictory information. What is your experience? And: Is there another plant that could help?

REPLY – Here is the truth about correspondences, If they work for you, they work for you and not everyone uses the same correspondences. They vary depending on the tradition and practice. As for myself, I have never used herbs to keep spirits away. Rather, I sit down and ask them what they want. Typically, once they are heard, they leave. I also will allow spirits and ghosts to stay around if they feel good. You never know, what if the spirit you are feeling are the spirit of the property or the trees?

For real hauntings, I was taught “The command” by my Grandmother and Mother. For the command get incense and sage going in several places in your home stand in the middle of your house, close your eyes, and ground and center. With eyes closed, visualize your entire home until you feel it and draw that into you. Then you visualize any spirits or ghosts until you feel they are paying attention. With eyes closed and they firmly visualized with a strong command voice tell them to get out, they are not welcome here, do this a couple of times while holding up your hand in a stop gesture. Move your hand in all directions while repeating this. Then grab a broom any broom will do and sweep them out while repeating they are not welcomed there in the command voice. After that, we would put iron on the walls or in the corner of the home. It can be horseshoes or railroad spikes, but iron it must be. This keeps them from coming back. if you ever feel them coming back say in your mind, get out you are not welcomed as you remember this working.

JT Asks – In working with deities is it normal to block them out without meaning to due to self-doubt that they are actually there? Because I have been experiencing that and feel guilty for doing so.

REPLY – I can relate! Because of my doubt, I once chased off Hecate. I felt horrible. I tried to get back to her for years and basically begged forgiveness for my ignorance, which I thought was protection and just. It was many years later she came back to me, but she had been there watching. We are never really alone and if the deity wants to work with you, they will be patient and wait for you to be ready.

LJ Asks – I have Just one question about grounding I do it not for that long kinda new to it but every time I do It, it feels like roots are growing out of my hands and trying to reach the ground just like my feet. Is that a normal feeling? And can someone explain that to me? Maybe I am doing something wrong I don’t know, just new to this.

REPLY – Hon, this is the opposite of wrong! You have done everything right; this is how it is supposed to feel and work. The roots you feel are your energy merging with the earth’s energy, an energy exchange like it should be, congrats and keep up the good work!

PW Asks – I promise I’m not stoned, though I recognize that the question I’m about to ask might point to me being in that state. You know how some people say that they are reading someone else’s energy? Are we reading someone’s energy or are we getting the information that comes to us from our spiritual team? Or is it a combination of both?

REPLY – I am not familiar with having a “spiritual team” In my experience of reading, it feels like my claircognizance and clairvoyance/ I- am reading the person’s images, energy, and knowledge. I do think it is very wise to know what is our stuff and what is not, so we do not that influence the reading. I call that knowing myself, and I know the feel of my stuff when it rises and I am able to put it aside when I need to.

PW – What do you think informs your claircognizance?

REPLY – The mental/psychic ability within us all. Psychic information flows like radio waves/energy waves, thoughts are energy too, and the human brain has the ability to pick up on that and it runs through our cortex and gets filtered through our inner/mental visual and knowledge centers.

PW Asks – you don’t relate to having a spirit guide?

REPLY – I do for sure; I have had several over my many years, but they do not play any role in my readings of a client typically. Every now and then a spirit might come forward with something to add but not often. This is because, for me, I am reading the person and what is in them or emanating from them.

CM Asks- What made you want to be a witch?

REPLY – First I think each person has their own unique reasons for wanting to become a Witch and finding their path to witchcraft. I was raised in both the family witchcraft tradition and a church, when I was thirteen, I was given a choice. I was instructed to explore other Christian paths and spent three months diving into that. I went to many churches and read the bible and meet several ministers and kids I spoke to about it. Then at the end of that summer, my mom and grandma asked me which I preferred. I chose witchcraft because I felt it was more genuine to the person I am, and I have never looked back. Currently, I feel it is best to know yourself very well, then choose a spiritual path that truly fits you. I have seen folks choose a path then try to change to meet that path with unsatisfying results. Many Blessings on your journey!

Cat was raised in a magical system by her mother and grandmother and was initiated by them into the family tradition at age 13. Over the years her grandmother taught her the ways of a Hedgewitch, Wortcunning, and “The Knowing” which is a mix of clairsentience, personal gnosis, and psychic ability. From working in the garden with her grandmother Cat became passionate about herbal medicine. Her insights about this are often discussed in her Facebook group Herbal Alchemy. Cat’s mother being less traditional, was a progressive-minded Christian Mystic that gave Cat her interfaith morals and taught her to be an avid reader. Cat’s literary education in the craft began at age 10 with authors such as Edgar Cayce, Marion Zimmerman Bradley, Lobsang Rampa, Gavin, and Yvonne Frost, The Golden Bough, and many more which she continues to this day. By the age of 18, Cat was adept in clairvoyance, UPG, dream work, astral travel, mediumship, and empathic skills. She went on to use those skills in her work as a Dual Diagnosis counselor when inspired by Judith Orloff’s book Second Sight. During her 15 years of counseling, Cat worked in such places as the Salvation Army ARC, The city detox, methadone clinics, and The Native Nations in Portland Oregon. She stepped into the public arena of Paganism at age 50 through Rowan Tree Pagan Ministries, began teaching and became an Ordained Pagan Minister and High Priestess. Cat founded the initiatory coven and school, by the name The Coven of the rising Phoenix in 2016. She is a published author, Psychic Skills for Magic and Witchcraft, through Llewellyn, and writes for The Green Egg Magazine.
